London, UK – Monday 18 November 2024 – London’s go-to black cab app, Gett, is bringing a unique family festive experience to London’s streets this Christmas season.
On Saturday 7 December, families are invited to climb aboard a special black cab grotto for a magical ride with Santa, while taking in London’s most spectacular Christmas light displays.
Departing from Hanover Square, passengers will be taken on a short 5-10 minute circular ride with Santa, sharing stories and snapping unforgettable photos.
Spaces are limited, with a maximum of 4 passengers (maximum 2 adults) per ride. Tickets are available via Eventbrite, for a donation to The Childhood Trust’s Christmas Tree Appeal to help raise funds to ensure that London’s most vulnerable children are kept safe this Christmas. Gett will be matching all donations.
“I’ve been a cabbie for 19 years and driving around London at this time of year never fails to impress,” says Darren Armsby, the cabbie taking the reins of Santa’s sleigh for the occasion. “Regent Street will always be a firm favourite – but this year, I’d recommend a trip down Sloane Street in Chelsea. They’re unveiling a new canopy of twinkling foliage, it’s going to be stunning!”
Chris Lewis, Managing Director of Gett UK adds: “Black cabs are truly part of the fabric of London – they’re as iconic as the chandeliers on New Bond Street or Covent Garden’s towering tree. From the pop-up ice rinks and Christmas markets to pantomimes and carol concerts, London really does sparkle at this time of year, and we’re thrilled to be part of that magic, bringing festive fun for the family in the back of a black cab. And by partnering with The Childhood Trust, we’re also able to give back and help spread some cheer to vulnerable children in need.”
Tickets for the Black Cab Grotto experience are available from Tuesday 19 November via Eventbrite. Search ‘Gett’s Black Cab Grotto.’
Gett is already trusted by hundreds of thousands in the UK, using the app to book licensed black cabs on demand and in advance. More than half of the black cabs on Gett’s platform are the electric-powered LEVC TX models which have glass roofs, giving a 360 view of London’s light displays.
With the largest black cab fleet in London on its platform, Gett has an average pick-up time of 4 minutes in central London. Black cabs can bypass traffic in the bus lane and drivers have ‘The Knowledge’ of London’s streets like no other – often getting you there quicker than other taxis and offering a smoother ride. Download the app via App Store or Play Store.
